Established in 1572, Royal Tichelaar Makkum is the oldest company in the Netherlands, recognized worldwide in the field of ceramics. Immune to economic and technological changes, they have worked hard to preserve their traditional methods, using only clay excavated locally and perfected production processes. Their expertise reaches far and wide, including hand-painting and a nearly extinct technique known as Delft earthenware, a technique no longer used in Europe.
