In April 2009, Anndra Neen was founded by sisters Phoebe and Annette Stephens during a trip to Japan. At the time, the pair was living in New York City, where Pheobe was a fashion specialist at Phillips de Pury and Annette was pursuing a career in theatre.

Their jewelry inspirations began during childhood while surrounded by artists in Mexico City. Their grandmother, Annette Nancarrow, was a painter, sculptor, and jewelry designer who had collaborated with the Muralist Movement in Mexico. Attracted to their grandmother’s eclecticism, the sisters drew on their own interpretations of antique European jewelry, ancient Egyptian motifs, Japanese design elements, and Bauhaus graphics. Today, each Anndra Neen piece is unique and hand crafted by artisans in Mexico City.

In October 2011, Anndra Neen was awarded the prestigious Dorchester Collection Fashion Prize. The pieces have been worn by Michelle Obama, Jessica Alba, Drew Barrymore, and Nicole Richie, among others.
