Urban trees come down naturally or due to development. Reusing urban timber in long lasting elements of design, not only maintains a piece of history, but sequesters carbon. Even a small percentage of urban timber redirected into quality products is the equivalent of cars off the road and contributes to cleaner air today and tomorrow.
Keep your tray clean and dry. Do not use solvent-based cleaners. The finish can be refreshed with a natural beeswax product.
Alabama Sawyer works from field to studio. They procure logs directly from homeowners, municipalities and arborists. They mill and dry our the wood. They design and produce products in their shop in Birmingham, AL.
"Breakfast in bed" never gets old as an expression of love for mothers, fathers, friends and lovers alike. Alabama Sawyer has made this wood and brass serving tray for lazy Sundays, reading the paper with coffee and scones, but you are welcome to use it to pass drinks at a party, give it a permanent spot on a coffee table or ottoman. Walnut, oak or magnolia is given a hand-applied, oil finish and joined with brass splines into an obsessively well-crafted object.
• All Alabama Sawyer products are made from urban timber. This means the wood comes from inside the boundaries of a city.
• Each tree reflects the provenance of where it grew and lived and from where it was eventually removed.
• Unique grain patterns, bits of sapwood, small pin knots are all part of the character and on-of-a-kind nature of these products.
