Anchal's Narrative Collection explores the connection between vernacular imagery, heritage artwork and a maker's journey to empowerment. The contemporary geometric design partnered with an aggregated stitch pattern revolutionizes traditional kantha quilting techniques. Kantha, a traditional India embroidery technique, is the process of joining multiple layers of vintage saris with a simple running stitch. Each design is captured in a photograph and translated into a quilt's compositional pattern, allowing variant stitch patterns to reveal the artisan's process & determination. This art takes patience, dedication and practice. A standard throw quilt takes an average of 2 weeks to stitch.
Anchal's Narrative Collection features the Grid Tea Towels, an adorable addition to your kitchen. Hand-stitched from 1 layer of cotton, these towels feature geometric stitches in coordinating colors for accent.
This product was made by an Anchal Artisan in Ajmer, India and features the hand-stitched name of its maker. Colors include: Bone, Black stitching
