This handwoven rug is made from fique, a fiber from a plant (similar to agave sisal) that is commonly grown in South America. Fique, traditionally used in Colombia and Peru to make clothing, sandals, and rugs, it is now primarily used to make coffee bags. Strong-textured and durable, fique is naturally eco-friendly; in addition to being used for textile production, it is a natural source of fuel, as well as a detoxifying agent, able to remove chlorine, salt, and dye pollution from water. These doormats have an elastic quality, perfect thickness, and natural luxurious shine. Doli features bold graphic shapes inspired by the American Southwest. It was designed in Los Angeles, and handwoven by artisans from Santander, Colombia.
