Two artistic subject collide in this vintage print by Howard Kanovitz from 1980. The upper half depicts a realistic still life of everyday boxes and containers, while the lower half is a majestic landscape of sunset behind a cathedral, reminiscent of the impressionists. The combination of realism and impressionism, still life and landscape, and the modern everyday with the grandeur of history creates for an interesting modern composition. The artist, Howard Kanovitz (1929-2009) was a student of Franz Kline and when this work was created was known for his graphic illustrations in the photorealism style. This lithograph is signed and numbered in pencil, edition size: 125.
