Award-winning glassware designer Erika Lagerbielke created these beer glasses to bring out the full range of flavors in your brew. The wide body of this glass is designed to reveal all the aromatic and tasting notes of a well-crafted pale or dark lager. The tapered rim helps maintain the beer head, or foam. This is essential for enjoying a good glass of cold-fermented lager from start to finish, since the foam acts as a trap for the aromatic compounds that would otherwise evaporate from the beer. Designer Erika Lagerbielke works with Orrefors, one of the oldest glassworks companies in Sweden, established in 1726. The glasses are produced in Germany using lead-free crystal. They will sound off a delightfully musical ting when you toast.
These crystal glasses are dishwasher safe. Be sure to dry them thoroughly after washing, as any remaining water droplets can flatten your pour.
This Swedish glassware producer is named Orrefors, after the forest-nestled community where the workshops are based. With over 250 years of expertise in the art of glassmaking, their glassware has been collected and exhibited in dozens of museums, including the Copper Hewitt Museum in New York and the Victoria & Albert Museum in London. This collection was designed by Erika Lagerbielke, who is renowned at Orrefors for designs that fuse a deep knowledge of spirits and wine with contemporary aesthetics and functionality. Her glassware has graced the tabletops of the Swedish royal family and discerning Scandinavian diners alike. "Glass is my passion," Lagerbielke says. "I work to capture both rational and artistic qualities in the same design, a concept I call 'Poetic Functionalism.' When designing drinking vessels, understanding human desire is equally important as understanding the beverage and its sensory qualities. A great glass for wine or beer will give someone an enhanced experience of the drink, and also, I hope, create a moment of beauty through the sensual simplicity of the glass."
