Hand-wash cold or dry clean.
Based in Portland, Oregon, and working with fabric sourced in Japan, co-founders and business partners Dawn Yanagihara and Katsu Tanaka seek to create long-lasting, heirloom items from kasuri kimono fabrics as an alternative to temporary, fleeting fashions.
Kasuri, derived from the Japanese verb kasuru (meaning “to touch lightly”), is notable for the blurred woven patterns formed by light, airy threads. The fabrics used by Dawn and Katsu to create their scarves, bandanas, quilts, bags, ties, hats and more, are either vintage Japanese stock or newly made on original looms by small, family-run factories in Japan. Scraps of the unused fabric are then saved to create one-of-a-kind, patched-together quilts.
Slim and lightweight indigo-dyed necktie, handwoven from vintage kimono fabric. Pure cotton backing with silk kimono lining. Sewn, pressed and packaged in Portland, OR. A KM exclusive.
