These fireplace andirons are hand-forged from reclaimed railroad tracks and remain just as hardy as the day they were laid down. For durability and uniform color, the tools have been triple-plated with a black powder coated finish. Their minimal design allows just the fire to shine—air is allowed to circulate around the wood logs, encouraging optimal burning and decreasing smoke.
Wipe clean with a damp cloth when necessary.
While exploring a small village in Italy, designer Marco Ferreri encountered workers using a hundred-year old water-powered hammer to cut and refashion old pieces of railroad track to make shovels, hoes and other tools. Inspired by the determination and gusto of these blacksmiths, Ferreri designed this set of modern, minimal fire tools to harken back to traditional blacksmithing and ironworks.
Pair of hand-forged iron andirons to elevate and aerate wood for better burning fires and less smoke. Minimal, modern design, with triple-plated black powder coated finish. Made in Italy from recycled railroad tracks. (more info)
