In 2012, maker Travis Weaver grabbed some glasses from the pantry and set out to create a batch of hand-poured candles. These naturally scented, soy-based candles continue to be created by hand in small quantities. Each one is formulated with essential oils—derived from distilling herbs and wood—to create a woody ambience in the bathroom, bedroom or living room, or to dissipate food smells in the kitchen. Soy wax burns clean, so there is no soot or carcinogenic byproducts to worry about.
Burn the candle in any room to add a pleasant aroma and ambience. Clip the cotton wick as necessary in order to avoid residue. When the candle is finished, remove the soy wick, clean the glass and reuse as you see fit. To create an even burn, we recommend lighting the candle for one to three hours at a time.
Manready Mercantile was founded in 2012 by Travis Weaver when he made a first batch of candles and soaps in his apartment in Houston, Texas. Weaver soon teamed up with his neighbor, graphic designer Roby Fitzhenry, for label design and branding. In March of 2014, Weaver and Fitzhenry opened a storefront in the Historic Heights neighborhood of Houston, with a focus on wood, leather goods, textiles, and of course, the candles and soaps that started it all. Manready Mercantile’s mission is to create jobs, help other makers and support goods made in the U.S.A.
