These scarves are handwoven from a blend of silk and Himalayan merino wool by a husband-and-wife team working from their home in the foothills of the Himalayas. With a fine fiber, merino is one of the softest wools available. It is warm, but also has natural wicking and anti-bacterial properties. With a breathable fiber, the scarf will insulate without making you feel overheated - a useful quality whether you’re taking a brisk walk or standing in a crowded subway. The silk, known as “peace silk” because of the non-lethal manner in which it is extracted from the Eri silkworm, provides further ventilation while retaining warmth and softness.
Dry clean only.
Husband and wife Anant and Bittan started their family weaving business with just one loom in Kalsi, a small village in the foothills of the Himalayas. Focusing on their craftsmanship and homespun industry, they have now expanded their operation to four looms. These wool and silk scarves are a collaboration with Los Angeles company Apolis, whose moniker means “global citizen” in Greek. Apolis works to provide access to private industry and worldwide trade to create significant social empowerment and betterment in communities around the globe.
