why this product

Classic, versatile and literally cool, breathable linen fabrics help keep the wearer from overheating by wicking away sweat and moisture from the skin. It’s no wonder this distinctive cloth is as synonymous with warm weather dressing as boat shoes and tennis whites.

These linen blend ties get their brilliant coloring from natural dyes that have been in use for centuries. Madder root, the common name for plants in the Rubia family once gave the British Redcoats their signature hue. The dense wood of the Osage-orange tree, while prized for making tool handles and fence posts, can also be used to make a golden yellow dye.

Designed and produced by Apolis, a Los Angeles-based company devoted to ethical labor practices and environmentally sound manufacturing, you can feel just as good about wearing these ties as you’ll look while sporting them.

use & care

Dress it up, dress it down: these classic, colorful ties with just a hint of summery linen texture will take you from the boardroom to a backyard barbecue faster than you can say Windsor Knot.

Should any unfortunate spillage occur, you can spot clean your tie by hand and hang it to dry, or you may choose to have it dry-cleaned.

production & design

These ties are designed by Apolis, a California-based company focused on socially responsible fabric sourcing and manufacturing. Made from naturally dyed, cotton and linen blend fabric milled and woven in India, each tie is individually handcrafted in Los Angeles at a 2,500 square foot studio space.

Empowering small manufacturers and responsibly sourcing their fabrics—it's this kind of socially-conscious production process that Apolis ("global citizen"? in Greek) stands for, and why we love what they do.
