The Standard Rocking Chair was the very first design ever conceived at the The Chair that Rocks, a cultural initiative that seeks to link contemporary design with craftsmen from Tlacotalpan, Mexico. Designed by Jose de la O in collaboration with two local cabinet makers from Tlacotalpan, Oscar Prieto and Oscar Montalvo, the starting point of this project was to create a contemporary version of the common standard rocking chair, the most popular chair found in the region. As one of de la O’s goals was to bring this rocking chair to its pure essence, all ornamental elements were removed, focusing entirely on comfort and material efficiency.
Made in Mexico.
Details: Entirely hand made in Tlacotalpan México by skilled woodworkers. Made out of red cedar and natural wicker. Comes flat packed.
