From the north of Japan, handwoven indigo dyed cotton and hemp fragments are repeatedly mended, patched and re-patched in a series of layers to construct placemat textiles of immeasurable beauty and utility. Held together by thousands of tiny sashiko stitches, these pieces produce warmth and exude elegance on any table setting.
Made in the United States. A portion of the profit is donated to the Japanese Red Cross Society.
Details: Each placemat is made from antique Japanese indigo dyed cotton or hemp with boro pieces integrated into the design to create singular works of art for your table. Approximate size: 13.5 inches x 19 inches.
Care: Machine wash gentle cycle in cool water, hang dry.
