Fine handwoven ikat comes to life in this delicate snap clutch. Ikat is a technique that involves dying the threads before they are woven. Each of these clutches has its own unique pattern and personality, and no two sides are the same. A perfect holiday gift for any lover of textiles or handmade luxury. Impact: The textile was handwoven by women weavers in the Fergana Valley, the traditional heartland of ikat weaving in Uzbekistan. The bag was assembled in a workshop run by two sisters in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Each bag provided 4 days of fair work to women. The sale of each bag will provide 5 days of life skills mentoring for adolescent indigenous Mayan girls through Catrinka's 2014 NGO partner, Redmi.
Handmade in Uzbekistan. Ikat snap clutch. Available in Blue or Black. Crafted with 50% cotton / 50% silk blend. Metal hardware. Lined in striped market fabric, with an interior open pocket. The woman behind the bag: Elnora, 27, is a talented designer who supports herself by working with our production partner in Tashkent. She is the main breadwinner for her mother and brother.
