NALLIK is a word borrowed from the Inuit language. It cannot be translated directly but means protection and nurturing in a loving way. Inuit people appreciate that we are all connected to each other. They respect the environment and know it contains everything we need to live. NALLIK represents that sense of sustainability. Jean Balke grew up in Germany with a love for the arts and a fascination for travelling which she extensively did since 16 years old. She finished her master studies of communication design in 2004 and worked as an art director in London and New York. In 2011 she decided to make her passion for working with metals and stones into a business and launched NALLIK.
