As far as namesakes go, the Ghurkas are stellar. Nepalese troops who fought for the British, Ghurkas are renowned for their exceptional bravery and loyalty. One former chief of staff of the British army, Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw, said, “If a man says he is not afraid of dying he is either lying or a Ghurka.”
