The Vano family of Castillo de Canena in Andalusia has been making olive oil from the same groves since 1780—a remarkable achievement even in a country as steeped in culinary tradition as Spain. Each year, for generations, a portion of the best extra virgin oil from these ancient trees has been put aside for the family’s private use. And we're proud to offer this choice epicurian olive oil, taken from the first day of the 2010 harvest, to you.
We’ve got two varieties of this rare and delicious treat: Castillo de Canena Picual Family Reserve, made from large, elongated Picual olives and has a rich, ripe flavor; and Castillo de Canena Arbequino Family Reserve, which is pressed from small, round Arbequino olives and boasts a distinctive, citrus-tinged spiciness. Either one of these exceptional oils will elevate a meal into a bona fide occasion.
