About Wordless Paper

If you’ve ever been faced with half a roll of unused wrapping paper after Christmas/Valentine’s Day/Mother’s Day/etc., you’ll instantly understand the appeal of today’s product. Universal gift wrap that can be applied to any present-giving situation. All you have to do is circle the appropriate message, stick on an optional bow, and you’re ready to go.

As designed by the Milan-based duo of Fabio Milito and Francesca Guidotti—collectively known as Wordless Design—this paper was inspired by word search puzzles. They came up with the idea one January afternoon when they needed to wrap a birthday present but had nothing but leftover Santa paper on hand. The word puzzle inspiration came to them almost immediately, tickled their fancy, and led to Wordless Paper. This heavyweight, natural uncoated premium paper is sold in sets of 5 sheets, each 19.7 x 27.6 inches, and can be written on with any type of pen or marker.

If you’re having trouble finding the message you want to convey—there are 20 in all, from the standard like MERRY CHRISTMAS to more outré examples like HAPPY NAME DAY, IT IS NOT A TIE, and IT IS NOT PERFUME—there’s a guide on the inside. Along with the satisfaction of being able to give a wittily presented gift, Wordless Paper eliminates the clutter that comes with having to store five or six different kinds of wrapping paper. You can keep a few sheets on hand and know you’re ready for any holiday or occasion that comes your way.

And speaking of witty gift-wrapping, Milito and Guidotti say their dream is to collaborate with the artist Christo, who’s famous for wrapping everything from the Pont Neuf in Paris to entire islands. Now that’s a wrap job we’d like to see.
