About Terada Mokei

We can’t help but be drawn to this delicate architectural model of AHAlife’s own stomping ground, New York City. Designer Terada Mokei's minute attention to detail is impressive whether he is re-creating the beauty of Japan’s cherry blossoms or the hustle and bustle of NYC streets. The Big Apple 1/100 scale model in purple has all the city life fixtures and characters small enough to fit in your hand: the subway, the mailboxes, the street vendor and his cart, the pretzels, the cop on the horse, the little dogs and more. Who would have ever thought such a big city could be so adorable?

Each kit is made of heavyweight tant paper, but is tiny enough to fit in your hand. Despite its small size, it is sturdy and long-lasting. Putting it together is a fun project on its own, taking about 90 minutes of care to assemble. We recommend using a razor blade to separate each piece off the pre-cut sheet, then mounting them on the white board (included) with craft glue and pins (not included).

Once you see how fabulous this little world is, we’re betting you’ll opt for it—because as far as desk décor goes, this trumps a candy jar any day. We also are offering a miniature Cherry Blossoms model here.
