Have we mentioned that we have a sweet tooth? As in we can’t get through the afternoon without a little something sugary. As in we sit impatiently through dinner so we can indulge in dessert. As in… you get the idea. We know it’s not healthy, but we just can’t help ourselves. But since discovering Sweet Revolution Caramels, we’re feeling a lot better about our addiction.

They’re handmade in weekly batches in San Francisco by Anastasia Hägerström, a woman after our own heart: A sweets lover who’s allergic to both corn syrup and cane sugar, she developed these all natural, organic caramels out of desperation. Made from nothing but maple, cream, honey, butter, sea salt and vanilla bean (and, when applicable, nuts), they’re one of the yummiest candies we’ve tasted—and as you may have guessed, we’ve tasted quite a bit. Complex enough to satisfy even committed foodies, they’re smooth and rich, with a slightly salty tang and a heady butterscotch aftertaste.

“I created this unique and original recipe after much thought of what flavor profile I wanted,” says Hägerström. “By keeping the ingredients and the cooking process simple, the individual flavor integrities come alive in the stages of the first scent, the first bite, the second and finishing bite. It’s a very complex caramel.”

We’re offering two flavors: Maple Honey and the 24kt gold-dusted Golden Pecan, which are available in boxes of 12. The Maple Honey has an almost savory bite, while the Golden Pecan has mellower, pecan-pie notes. Singly or together, they’re our new favorite indulgence. And because the packaging is so fabulous—not to mention completely compostable—we love the idea of them as hostess gifts. Or birthday presents. Or stocking stuffers. Or… well, you get the idea.
