ABOUT
Expertise: The ability to remember long & highly narrative dreams years after they've been dreamt. I also like making music and videos with my band OK Go and Pyyramids.
Location: Los Angeles.
Interests: Cooking, playwriting, 60's soul and R&B, folk art, furniture, SNL, and going to the desert.

Background: Born and raised in Kalamazoo. Studied theater at The Theater School of Depaul University in Chicago. After college, started a band with best friends which became OK Go.

Favorite meal: I love pizza. Especially if it's a slice from Joe's Pizzeria in the West Village.

Recent purchase: A 1960's dark brown rotary telephone (am collecting old phones) that is set in a beautiful dark brown wood and leather case. It's straight up James Bond style and I love it.

Hidden talent: I can make girls I am attracted to only want to be my friends.

Book/film recommendation: Consider the Lobster by David Foster Wallace. If you want a good bellyache laugh read Bossypants by Tina Fey.

Restaurant recommendation: The Salt's Cure in Los Angeles. You have to be a meat eater but they cure all their own meats in house and it's absolutely delicious. Try their homemade cured ham with the tomato soup.

If I had $20, I’d...: Give it to someone who could use it more than me.

Transformative travel experience: Seeing the night sky at the Joshua Tree desert a few years ago really made me happy to be alive. I could see every star and the Milky Way. It looked like the sky was breathing light. I stared at it for hours.

Favorite neighborhood: The dead end woodsy street I grew up on in Kalamazoo; especially in the Fall when all the leaves were changing and everything smelled like pumpkins and earth.

Dream holiday: I'd really like to go to the Stockholm archipelago. My band recorded in Sweden a few years back, and I was told that that specific island is beautiful in the summer.

If I could solve one problem, it would be: There are so many problems in the world it's hard to pick just one: A cure for cancer would be huge, affordable medical care for anyone who needs it, and legalizing marriage for everyone. An App for the iPhone that allows to discreetly Shazam someone's face to identify them, solving the problem of not remembering his/her name in a social situation.

I wish people cared more about: Eating well. Not for vanity reasons I just think people put a lot of bad stuff into their bodies that is not good for their health.
Recent Aha! moment: Last Christmas my friend Michael gave me a limited edition 7" record of Take on me by the band Aha.

The world would be a better place if: Everyone could take naps from 2pm to 4pm everyday.
