Name: Camilla Wellton, I work as a yogic fashion designer entrepreneur
Location: Stockholm
Products: Calfskin leather laptop/business bag and travel bag
What was your vision when you launched your line?
My vision was and still is to create clothes and accessories that trigger and enhance a specific group of interconnected feelings in the wearer: Feelings of being intrinsically beautiful, valuable and unique just by being that which you are.
What is your background?
I´m self taught when it comes to design, I´ve learned by focused experimentation this last decade while studying philosophy, yoga, environmental science, chemistry-biology-mathematics, although I at last chose to take a degree in entrepreneurial project management.
How would you describe your line’s aesthetic?
Elegant, practical, urban, simple and slightly mystic.
What inspired you to create the laptop and travel bags?
My dad finally gave me his antique medical bag two years ago. I´ve been craving to own it all my child hood, it was at the top shelf in his wardrobe, one of the few possessions he had I wasn´t allowed to take. So when I got it, I decided to use it as a base from which to create my own bags, a sort of homage to the bag I´ve admired for so long.
What are the different uses of the bags?
Charlene is for your weekend travels. She´s an elegant double decker with space for toiletries, two over night change of clothes in the upper compartments while a pair of extra shoes and books fit in the lower compartment. I use it as my cabin bag when flying and, also as my very luxurious gym bag.
Oscar is the discreetly individualistic business and laptop case. My dad uses it to be casually elegant at court (he´s a lawyer). Many men buy Oscar, among others creatives in photography, graphic design and relaxed business people. Oscar is the most serious of the collection.
What special features do the bags have that set them apart?
The bags are distinct in the their combo of being very practical both in use and in their simplicity. There are no unnecessary frills, chains and what not´s to
set them apart from other bags. Their difference from others lies in integrity of the combination of form, material, colour that together gives them a disctinct atmosphere that sets them quite apart from other bags.
You named this set of bags "The Shivago Collection" - how come?
It´s from the movie Dr Shivago, one of my dad´s favorites that he forced me to watch when I was a kid.
