Background: I was born in Madrid and raised in Puerto Rico. I studied fashion merchandising in New York and ended up working in magazines by mistake. In 2008 I published a book titled Bienvenida a Venus, a compilation of a column I wrote for 13 years. I now work as editor in chief of CARAS, a lifestyle magazine published by Televisa Publishing. Oh, and most important—I am the proud mother of two amazing boys!
Why did you curate the Bamboo Bicycle and what do you love about it? I had never seen anything like it. It’s unique, functional and beautiful. It’s a great idea executed with very good taste.
Favorite meal: Bisté encebollado con arroz , habichuelas y tostones (meat topped with sautéed onions and a side of rice and beans and fried plantains).
Recent purchase: A chain necklace by Armor Jewelry.
Hidden talent: I know the lyrics to almost all the 80s songs.
Book/film recommendation: Anything by David Sedaris.
Restaurant recommendation: Ceviche House, Isla Verde, Puerto Rico.
If I had $20, I’d… : That would never happen…. I have kids!
Transformative travel experience: The trips I took as a child with mom, dad and sisters, in a van all over Europe.
Favorite neighborhood: Close to the people I love… Madrid, New York City and Guaynabo, Puerto Rico.
Dream holiday: Island hopping with my kids and my honey on a boat around the Virgin Islands…. with no return date.
If I could solve one problem, it would be: Better public education
