That unappetizing situation was the impetus for Black and his partner, Marcus Blum, to create the Box Appetit Lunchbox.

Unlike standard food storage containers, Black+Blum’s Box Appetit was designed to keep your food looking as good as it tastes. As well as the main compartment, it includes a removable inner dish, so you can split different foods up and microwave one but not the other. It also includes a tiny pot for dressing or sauce (no more limp salads!) and a fork/knife hybrid that sits on top of the two watertight compartments and is ideal for one-handed eating.

The glass-like lid, which locks down for spillage-free transporting, includes a handy dipping area. Both the lid and the main body of the box are BPA-free and completely recyclable. And thanks to the addition of seashell extract to the polypropylene, the main compartment looks and feels more like a real ceramic plate—i.e. it’s less likely to pick up food stains—than your average Tupperware container.
