What is it about getting on a flight that transforms even the well turned out into disheveled, nylon backpack-toting messes (and we’re not talking vintage Prada)? Is there not a way to step onto a plane without sacrificing style? We’re happy to report that the answer is yes. Keep the clothing simple but smart—no velour tracksuits—stow the heels in your checked baggage, and carry one of these gorgeous Rajani tote bags from KOZA. Created by the well-traveled German-born, UK-based designer, Sinje Lesemann, they’re the answer to every jetsetting woman’s dreams, as you can see in our exclusive video.

As well as looking good (the handcrafted brass hardware and calf leather are sourced in Italy, while the traditionally woven fabric comes from India, where the bags are assembled), they’re thoughtfully designed to meet all of your travel needs. Clear plastic case for toiletries? Check. Passport pocket? Check. Magazine pocket? Check. Built in padded laptop compartment and key ring? Check. Roomy enough for a cashmere throw, an iPod and a good book? Check, check, check. Basically, this bag does everything but book your ticket.
And we haven’t even gotten to the back story yet: KOZA is the Sanskrit word for “treasure” and each collection is inspired by a different book of the Mahabharata, the great Hindu epic poem that is one of the classics of Indian literature. The Dhrita tote features a coral braille pattern inspired by the blindness of the character, Dhritarashtra, while the Pandu tote is embroidered with an ikat-like graphic representing the throbbing unfulfilled desire of Dhrita’s younger brother, Pandu, who was cursed to a lifetime of chastity after accidentally killing a sage. How’s that for some inspirational in-flight reading?
