Q2 Wi-Fi Radio Cube
By Petra IndustriesThis Wi-Fi Internet radio conceals a killer feature in its cute-as-a-button façade: To switch between stations, you just rotate it. To turn the volume up or down, you tilt it backward or forward.
THE STORY
We get a lot of gadgets here at AHAlife, but few of them have inspired the instant adoration that the Q2 did. This cube-shaped Wi-Fi Internet radio receiver has an intuitive design that’s almost mind-bogglingly simple. To wit: You download the Q2’s software to your Mac or PC and select four stations from anywhere in the world to listen to—one for each side of the cube. When you want to change the station, you rotate the cube; when you want to raise or lower the volume, you tilt it forward or backward. And because the Q2 is so small and portable, you can carry it from room to room for an uninterrupted flow of music or chat. But don’t take its small size to mean small sound—whether you’re listening to Morning Becomes Eclectic on KCRW or a Tokyo rock station, the Q2 makes it loud and clear.
