Why did you curate the Beaded Tribal Necklaces?
"I curated these Fiona Paxton necklaces because it's truly rare in the crowded accessories market that you find jewelry like hers that stops you in your tracks. Paxton's attention to detail and tribal inspirations liven up any outfit , be it jeans and a tee, or a dressy number for a night out." Read MoreTHE STORY
Fiona Paxton describes her highly covetable, hand-beaded necklaces as “tribal Art Deco,” a seemingly nonsensical characterization that actually makes perfect sense—especially once you see how these two styles merge in her funky-but-refined jewelry designs.
London-based Paxton began her fashion career as a textile designer, and her innate feel for texture and pattern is evident in her colorful, highly tactile pieces (just ask Drew Barrymore, Halle Berry and Beyonce, all of whom have been snapped wearing Paxton’s geometric creations). And because Paxton’s necklaces are made of glass beads stitched onto fabric and leather, and are embellished with metal chains, they’re pleasingly substantial—more like fashion pieces than mere baubles.
We’re featuring three of our favorite Paxton styles, each of which took between eight and 20 hours to make in her workshop in India. Two styles of “Edie” — one in blue and black, and one in gold and black — which have an arrowhead motif that gives it a Native American vibe. And Trina is a gorgeous gold waterfall of chains and beads.
There’s no up or down to the necklaces, so you can wear them anyway that you choose — straight up or asymmetrically — for a glam night out.
