Her haunting black-and-white images undermine the supposed idyllic nature of the ‘burbs with subtle manipulations that render each image slightly off-kilter. Reproduced on large squares of silk, they are not only beautiful pieces of art but will also make a sophisticated, unique addition to your wardrobe.
Before she teamed up with TCA, Land completed her MA in photography at the London College of Communication in 2009 and has shown her work examining the way architecture reflects socio-political realities, in galleries throughout Britain.
TCA, co-founded by Shwetal Patel, Laura Partington and Rebecca Hilditch, is based in Florence, Italy. Their mission is to employ luxury artisans to manufacture and produce limited runs of the work of emerging talents, such as Land. For their second season they created her Bourgeois Utopia scarves, made of 100 percent silk crepe with hand-finished hems. The production run was extremely limited, and we’ve managed to get our hands on the very last handful of these two styles, both of which are a perfect way to add a stylish edge to any casual outfit.
Compared with international luxury conglomerates, TCA’s business is tiny. So if you buy one of these beautiful scarves, you not only get an accessory that’s been handcrafted by artisans with generations of experience and designed by a potential design star, but you can rest assured that you won’t walk into a party and see someone else wearing it. And it doesn’t get more luxurious than that.
