A celebrated interior designer, Magel spent years tracking down the perfect items—ones that seamlessly blended form and function—for her clients. But finding these elusive gems wasn’t always easy. Sensing an unfulfilled need, she launched her own line of home furnishings, including this drool-worthy desk and chair, both of which are handmade locally to order at her custom workshop, The Laboratory, in New Jersey.

The Tripod Desk, which is made of old rubbed walnut with a white Italian lacquer satin finish and custom-carved signature Tamara Magel solid ebony drawer pulls, is the kind of piece that makes an entire room. The classic White Oak Chair with satin lacquer finish, which can be upholstered in either sumptuously tasteful chocolate shearling (our favorite) or shagreen in chocolate of cream, is the ideal companion for it.
