Here’s a not-so-sunny fact to start your day: UNICEF estimates that 1.2 million children, most of them girls, are trafficked into sexual slavery each year. That works out to about two children being trafficked every minute.

Enter the Nomi Network, a non-profit organization dedicated to eradicating human trafficking. It is named after Nomi, an eight-year-old Cambodian girl who has since been rescued from the underground brothel trade. To fight such atrocities, the Nomi Network makes fashionable totes and accessories out of recycled rice sacks. They then donate 100 percent of the profits into development and training programs for human trafficking survivors.
