We first spotted Alexandre Herchcovitch’s light-reflecting sculpted Lava clutch during São Paulo fashion week in January and instantly coveted it, only to be told that the acrylic resin bags, which were carved to look like solidified lava, were made only for his fashion show and were not going to be produced. Did that stop us? Of course not. We simply asked to sell the eight one-of-a-kind samples. 

So today, while models are carrying these very same bags down the runway at Herchcovitch’s show in New York—he’s one of the few Brazilian designers with the status to show in the Big Apple—we’re offering them for sale. Should any other front-row guest decide she wants one, she’ll be out of luck.

The clutches come in three colors: Vesuvio, a deep graphite that almost looks black, Ash which is a deep gray which is shot through with splashes of cream and Multi, which is a hot lava-inspired mix of red, yellow and black. Lava comes in either an oval or rectangular shape, while Ash is oval and Vesuvio rectangular. Perfectly sized for unobtrusively carrying an evening’s worth of essentials, they’re an ideal way to turn up the heat.
