Each formula brings together sweet, sour and bitter notes in perfect balance, for a complex flavor that’s all its own. They aren't alcoholic and can enhance even a simple soda water. No. 3 Smoked Honey Whiskey Sour: Organic, pure honey from Brazil is smoked for 24 hours or more, using wood broken down from the aged bourbon barrels used to create the Old Fashioned syrup. Organic orange peel adds a bright and slightly bitter note. Simply add to your favorite bourbon or rye whiskey in equal parts and shake with ice. No. 2 Tom Collins with Elderflowers & Hops: Shake up your typical Vodka Collins routine using this mix in equal parts. The mild floral sweetness rounded out with a subtle bitterness comes from a simple sugar syrup being cooked with imported European Elderflower berries and hops. Fresh lemon juice adds a bright kick of zest. No. 1 Bourbon Barrel Aged Old Fashion: This mix pairs well with whiskey and other stirred drinks, and should be used in a 1:4 ratio. To create the concoction, sugar is cooked past the caramel stage to create a just-right bitter edge to the sweetness. Spices are steeped in bourbon barrels, which are then used to age the formula for 1-2 months to allow the flavors to fully mature.

Husband-wife team MariElena and Joe formulated these homemade cocktail companions for their popular bar, The Gin Joint, in Charleston, South Carolina. The demand for a take-home version of the flavorful and nuanced syrups was overwhelming, and so they devised a small hand-bottled operation, starting with three formulas. A fourth flavor is still in the works… MariElena and Joe do it all, from sourcing the best ingredients to cooking the syrups, to hand-bottling and labeling with a hand-operated crank. The labels are decorated with quirky citations from a 1920s shadow puppet book.
