Snickering aside, the Sir Hooker House is a tribute to Sir William Hooker, the director of the Royal Botanic Gardens from 1841-1865. He was responsible for convincing the British government to include botanists on expeditions – and within the first 15 years of the invention of the terrarium, he imported six times more varieties of flora to Europe than in the previous century. The Sir Hooker house features a four point pyramid hip roof, clean symmetrical design and space to cultivate your own collection of rare plants.
