This unisex necklace holds an ancient Greek coin - a silver drachm that circulated in the kingdom of Alexander the Great. Alexander the great brought the Macedonian Greek kingdom to its peak, conquering almost all of the ancient world and spreading the Helenistic culture to their conquered territories. His silver drachmas were minted during his reign, and several hundred years after. The obverse of the coin depicts Herakles wearing the skin of the lion he killed with his bare hands, and the reverse shows the god Zeus, seated on his throne.
The pendant is 14K yellow gold. The chain is gold-plated sterling silver. Measurements: Pendant diameter-21 mm. Chain length-16" plus extension of 2". Item #104
