THE STORY
Sometimes—scratch, that, almost always—the tried and true stands head and shoulders above the new and trendy. Which is why we can’t get enough of Penhaligon scents. Founded 135 years ago on London’s Jermyn Street by William Penhaligon, Court Barber and Perfumer to Queen Victoria, Penhaligon’s elegant perfumes and eau de colognes have been worn by such British luminaries as Sir Winston Churchill, Rudyard Kipling, Vivienne Westwood and Kate Moss. Each scent is made by hand in England using the finest rare ingredients—including jasmine that costs twice as much as gold. Penhaligon’s gloriously evocative fragrances are then packaged in the company’s signature glass bottle, still made to William Penhaligon’s specifications. Monarchies change, empires fall, and trends come and go but there will always be a Penhaligon’s. Thank goodness.
