If it’s December, we must be in the middle of our annual quest to find a hat that keeps us warm and doesn’t leave us looking like either a) a mugger or b) a five year-old. This year, we have finally found what we’re looking for: Meg Cohen -known among style insiders as the “queen of cashmere”- has created the 2-ply hand-knit cashmere Wendy hood, which comes in black, chocolate and violet, and is conveniently paired with matching fingerless cashmere gloves.
There are so many things we like about this set that we’re not quite sure where to start. Firstly, we’re fascinated with the ingenuity of the design concept – the “open” pieces, as in the top half of the glove’s fingers and the back of the hood, are what makes them so smart and unique. The hood, which is actually a tapered ribbed scarf that buttons at the back and can be worn either on your head or as a cowl around your neck, has the unique ability to not disrupt any hairstyle. For that alone we think it’s worth its weight in gold. Add in the fact that it’s remarkably flattering and really warm in all the right places and you’ll understand why we’re raving. As for the gloves, they keep our hands toasty and our fingers free to text, scroll through our iPhone, and use our keys without dropping them. And because they match the hood, we feel pulled together even when we’re running out the door on frigid mornings to walk the dog. Our annual hat quest has become a thing of the past.
