About LeRoy Neiman

Artist Leroy Neiman is best known for the monthly illustrations he made for Playboy from 1954 until his death at the age of 91 in 2012. Neiman had a colorful, expressionistic style that lent itself perfectly to his favorite topics: athletes, musicians and sporting events such as safaris, the Olympics, the Kentucky Derby, the Super Bowl and the World Series. In addition to traveling the world and painting, Neiman sponsored and supported several organizations that teach art to underprivileged children, including the Art Horizons Leroy Neiman Arts Center in Harlem.
