Educated as a painter and printmaker, I have followed a design path from paper to dinnerware, to textiles, rugs, and wallcovering, to collaborations with architects and public art, influenced at each turn by my previous work experience. All my creative endeavors have come together to form my unique vision and aesthetic, characterized by tension between rough and refined, primitive and modern, ultimately paring things down to their essence. Influenced by 20th century sculptors Noguchi, Calder, and Brancusi who drew their inspiration from primitive ethnic form and crafts, my work in jewelry has similar roots. My pieces are about possibilities for layering and stacking to create one-of-a-kind collages or small sculptures that uniquely juxtapose disparate elements with simple elegance.
