OPEN POSITIONS

Senior Product Manager
Location: New York, NYDepartment: Product

We are looking for a customer obsessed, organized, and analytical Senior Product Manager to define products which enhance the AHAlife experience for customers and designers.

As a member of the AHAlife Product team, you will be responsible for bringing together engineering, design, and other departments from around the company to launch features and products on AHAlife's desktop, tablet, and mobile properties. To be successful in his role, you will need a structured problem-solving approach, strong product/design intuition, and the ability to start from the customer and work backwards.

About the role:

  • Own your product roadmap and backlog. Ensure that your team is building and shipping the right product at the right time.
  • Evangelize. Clearly communicate product plans, benefits and results to a spectrum of audiences, from internal stakeholders to customers, as appropriate.
  • Lead through influence, not authority. Have a strong opinion which is weakly held, and excellent communication skills.
  • Balance the big picture with the details. Never lose sight of how each product impacts AHAlife's mission, while knowing the nuts and bolts of what you are building.
  • Be analytical and process-oriented. Drive cross-functional teams to set and achieve measurable goals.
  • Be gritty. Roll up your sleeves and do what it takes to ship the right product.
  • Have strong product/design intuition. Empathize with the customer and build products with compelling user experiences.
  • Be data driven. Collect, analyze, and leverage data you need to validate your product/design intuition.
  • Test often. Perform A/B testing and usability tests to rapidly figure out what works and what doesn't.

About you:

  • Degree and/or experience heavy in analytical skills and structured problem solving (computer science, engineering, data analysis)
  • 3+ years of extensive product management experience in an iterative software development environment
  • Experience discussing and taking the right calls on technical tradeoffs and design tradeoffs
  • Ability to gather and whip data into insightful stories and drive business, product, and design decisions
  • Experience with e-commerce on web, tablet, and mobile
  • Technical and design proficiency, the ability to garner respect and trust of the engineering and design teams
  • Be very process-oriented, have a strong opinion and excellent communication skills

Mobile Designer
Location: New York, NYDepartment: Design

Do you want to help people connect with designers, artists, craftsmen and makers, and their handiwork?

Do you want to work at the intersection of commerce and meaning? We call this conscientious consumption. And we're looking for an ambitious Mobile Designer to bring his/her expertise to our Design team.

Have you worked on/for luxury, high-end brands, in fashion or travel? In this sector, if you've worked on e-commerce or retail experiences, or long-form magazine editorial deliverables, and email, landing page and microsite designs, we want to hear from you if you can check off 2 or more of the above.

You should be comfortable in a startup environment, knowing that design is about visual and interactive communication, engagement and persuasion. You'll help create and define the user experience of our customer sites and apps on mobile devices. You will be deeply involved in early concepting, research, design, prototyping and all those last-minute details and tough decisions before shipping.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

UI FRAMEWORK
  • Own and design flows, experiences, storyboards and mockups of our UI system from our consumer-facing site, our vendor-facing portal, and marketing that are elegantly simple, consistent and scalable to accommodate future features.
  • Research to uncover best- or common-practices, analogous studies to work out and validate designs
  • Work iteratively with Product and Engineering to nurture concepts and features from idea to final product
  • Your turnaround time will be in terms of half-days for quick fixes, to days for research, to weeks for larger scale projects. You will be busy.
  • Be part of our build and QA process, working with Product and Engineering to push products live
  • Do it all over again, to improve features and products based on real-world usage and business goals

VISUAL DESIGN
  • Flesh-out, evolve and mature our current visual and interaction language and patterns, for at-a-glance understanding and overall joy
  • Passionate about icons that are restrained for recognizability, yet distinct enough to convey our brand
  • Provide pixel-perfect production quality assets to front-end developers


REQUIREMENTS:

DESIGN & EXPERIENCE
  • 6+ years out of design school, 3+ years UI experience on e-commerce, app and marketing UI, in agency environments, or something close

EMPATHETIC
  • You always put yourself in the users shoes, brains and hearts, and can easily imagine motivating them on their worst day.
  • You know to get out from behind the desk and watch how the real world accomplishes analogous tasks, or are motivated to engage in a product or experience

PRODUCT ORIENTED
  • You're good being the glue between Product and Engineering, translating product ideas into concepts and designs that work.
  • Detail-oriented and committed to creating great experiences, knowing details and nuances matter, because you love shipping beautiful products

TALENTED & BROAD
  • You're part UI, part Visual Designer, part Hollywood FX designer, part Product Designer, and part Magician, and you will balance feedback and requirements from an equal number of stakeholders (marketing, content, editorial, merchandizing, art and product).
  • You solve problems from an underlying sense of structure and metaphor to guide decisions and promote site-wide consistency

  • You understanding responsive design. You are proficient in Illustrator, Photoshop and prototyping with pen/paper/scissors when necessary. You keep sharp by keeping up with emerging trends, common practices in design, tech and even high end fashion. You're organized and able to share your ideas visually and verbally

Email & Content Coordinator

The AHAlife Email & Content Coordinator straddles the line between marketing and merchandising. This role is responsible for building all marketing emails sent to AHAlife's growing list of engaged users. This person will collaborate with the merchandising, copy, operations and marketing teams to flawlessly execute daily email deployments, as well as monitoring performance and segmentation. This role is integral to the functioning and success of AHAlife's marketplace. The ideal candidate is analytical, but also creative and capable of writing engaging, informative copy for email, product pages and marketing materials. This is an operational role in a fast-growing, innovative e-commerce company with significant opportunity for growth.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze email reporting data for actionable insight
  • Test content, targeting and merchandising to optimize essential ecommerce KPIs

Requirements:

Associate Editor

The AHAlife Associate Editor plays a pivotal role on the marketing team, as the lead producer for all branded and promotional content throughout the site. Other content-based projects will be assigned on an ad hoc basis. The ideal candidate is creative, analytical and capable of writing engaging and information copy for email, product pages and marketing materials. A background in writing is critical to a candidate's success.
