About Banago

Whether you’re heading for a Labor Day weekend getaway or are looking for an everyday tote with some verve, Banago bags are a chic way to add a little island style to your life. The company was founded by Renee Patron, whose mother is from the town of Banago in the Philippines, where traditional artisans have been weaving and embroidering grass and palm leaves into colorful mats for centuries. Today, Patron employs artisans in 50 villages to create mats that are then stitched into fabulous totes and clutches. “I wanted to create something for the globetrotter and for the conscious consumer,” she says. “I had in mind that true luxury is having the ability to help as opposed to how much something costs.”
