Sweden is known for its unique mix of function and design. They’ve even got a word that describes this distinctly Swedish aesthetic – lagom. The term roughly translates to “just the right amount” and can be applied to everything from the country’s furniture design (hello IKEA!) to their pop music (Britney’s got nothing on Robyn, in our humble opinion). Here at AHAlife, we’ve found some more lagom for your life – these new bags from Stockholm-based designer Camilla Wellton. Her new collection strikes the perfect balance of beautiful design and functional utility.

We’ve picked two bags from Welton’s Shivago collection – the charmingly-named Charlene and Oscar. But don’t be fooled by their hetero-normative monikers – both totes are decidedly androgynous, and would look perfectly chic carried by a man or a woman.

The Charlene is a double-decker bag in a highly practical cabin size. With large, sturdy handles and a comfortable shoulder strap, you’ll want to carry this calf leather bag all over town and on your next business trip. The bag has an extra-roomy bottom compartment and is lined with orange canvas cloth, sure to shed some light on whatever you lose inside.

“There are no unnecessary frills, chains and whatnot's," says Wellton. "The difference lies in integrity of the combination of form, material, colour that together gives them a disctinct atmosphere."

The Oscar - a laptop bag or simply an urban update to the traditional attaché case - is available here.
